Celebrating Women's History Month
March 1st officially marked the start of Women’s History Month. The United States has celebrated Women’s History Month during the month of March since 1987 to honor the extraordinary achievements of women, and to promote the many contributions women have made to grow and strengthen our County and nation.
This year’s national theme for Women’s History Month is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” which serves as both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history. We want to honor and thank women in Prince George’s County who are leading in so many ways, including in the County Government.
Throughout this month, Prince George’s County will celebrate Women’s History Month through a number of events, programs, and activities that honor trailblazing women in our past and present. In fact, March has been officially proclaimed as Women’s History Month in Prince George’s County. See the official proclamation below.
We all know outstanding women in our own lives and our communities. During Women’s History Month, let’s remember to recognize and thank them for all they do.
