I’m Supporting Wanika Fisher for County Council District 2

Last week I was so proud to officially endorse my friend and colleague, Delegate Wanika Fisher, for County Council District 2. Wanika has been a pillar in addressing the needs of the community and has proven to be a leader the County Council needs at this moment.

Wanika championed first-in-the-nation legislation, Access to Counsel, which gives low-income Marylanders access to an attorney. She has remained committed to keeping Marylanders safe by sponsoring Labor Trafficking Legislation that holds criminals accountable, helping to ban ghost guns, and leading the charge on police reform. Delegate Fisher was also part of the team that helped secure $2.5 billion in State aid for Prince George’s County during the 2022 Legislative Session, the most ever in the County’s history.

Wanika’s considerable list of accomplishments while serving in our State Delegation and her dedicated involvement in the community give me confidence that she will effectively represent the residents of District 2. I hope to be able to work with her on the County Council during a second term as County Executive.

I look forward to joining Wanika in the coming weeks at several joint public appearances. This past Sunday, I was honored to accompany her at Turner Memorial AME Church for a beautiful worship experience.
